A festival made with the community for the community.
The Moon Lantern Festival had existed for 27 years in North Richmond. Historically it has been a cultural event for local residents and school children to build moon lanterns and parade through the North Richmond precinct. This year however, from new management and additional support from the State Government, The Moon Lantern Festival for the first time will run as a three-day music and arts festival, held in the North Richmond Housing Estate (corner of Lennox & Highett St).
An enormous program across multiple stages over 3 days, with half of the program originating from local community art projects, and half coming from some of Melbourne’s finest musicians and performers.
The 2022 Moon Lantern Festival was presented by the Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House and The Village Festival. Supported by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing through the North Richmond Community Capacity Building Initiative.
